Project Overview
Restoring 145 Years of History — Without Losing a Single Grain
The Tabor Opera House in Leadville, Colorado is one of the most storied performing arts venues in the American West. Built in 1879, its original hardwood floors have witnessed over a century of performances, footsteps, and history. When the time came for restoration, the team behind the multi-year preservation effort trusted 2nd Gen Hardwood to bring those floors back to life.
“Refinishing 145-year-old original hardwood in one of Colorado’s most iconic landmarks — while keeping what makes them historic — is the kind of work we were built for.”
This wasn’t a replacement job. These floors are irreplaceable. Every square foot demanded careful assessment, precise sanding, and a multi-coat finish system calibrated to restore beauty without erasing character. The result: floors that look brand new, yet still carry the depth and warmth that only a century and a half of real wood can produce.
